Learning with Mobile Games

by Estefania under Projects

apple_iphone1 Europe’s future economy and society are being formed in the classrooms of today. Students need to be both well educated in their chosen field and digitally literate if they are to take part effectively in tomorrow’s knowledge society. Europe also needs to make learning a lifelong endeavour, with people of all ages continuously developing their skills. Based on the Commission paper “the use of ICT to support innovation and lifelong learning for all“,mobilelearning brings many benefits.

The main purpose of the GameMob project will be to research mobile phones devices available in the market and mobile operating systems to identify those mobile platforms most useful for M-learning. Concurrently, a systematic review will be carried out on the use of mobile games within education to identify characteristics that support effective learning. In order to test and explore these characteristics a set of serious games applications for mobile phones and an accompanying toolkit to allow educators to adapt and deploy the games will be created and evaluated with a wide range of students.
